After School Art
Artists for Kids offers After School Art classes for students each Fall, Winter and Spring term.
Led by BC certified art specialist teachers and assisted by secondary art students, our classes provide the opportunity to build skills and foster creative growth within the visual arts. Students will have the opportunity to expand their artistic abilities in a multitude of different mediums, including painting, felting, printmaking, and sculpting.
Classes vary in duration, price, and medium. All art materials are included in the price of the program. See below for info and to register!
Important Notes:
- Artists for Kids does not provide supervision before class start times. Parents/Guardians are responsible for the supervision of their child from the end of the school day until the start of the After School Art class.
- Class start times do not change on professional development days or early dismissal days.
- Artists for Kids is unable to provide 1:1 support. If you child requires support at school, or will be attending classes with a support worker, please contact artistsforkids@sd44.ca as soon as possible after registering.
- A limited number of bursaries of up to 50% of program fees are available for those in need of financial support. In an effort to support as many families as possible, there is a limit of one bursary per child, per term for After School Art classes. Please contact Artists for Kids for more information on bursaries.

Wonderful Watercolours |
Welcome to the vibrant world of watercolours! In this class young artists will embark on exciting journey of creativity and self-expression through the medium of watercolours. Using a variety of materials we will spend time using nature as inspiration and students will develop their observation skills, brush techniques, colour mixing and blending. |

Students will explore artists and art movements through fun and playful mixed media projects. Each week, we use prominent works of art to inspire our own creations, using drawing, painting, and a variety of exciting mediums. |

Mural Club |
Plan, design, and create a mural based on a theme (e.g., nature) that you can display at your school or home! We will look at local Vancouver artists to gain inspiration as you go through the design process. Materials will be paint and 2’x4’ plywood canvas. |

Print it! Sculpt it! |
In this hands‑on art adventure, students explore how artists turn flat ideas into 3D creations. Young makers will experiment with foam printmaking, then transform everyday “junk” materials into imaginative sculptures. They’ll build with wire, nylon, clay, cardboard, and found objects, discovering how shapes, textures, and patterns can leap off the page. |

- If student withdraws more than two business days prior to start of first class - refund full amount
- If student withdraws within two business days of the start of the class or after the first class only - refund full amount minus $30.00 processing fee
- If student withdraws after the second class - no refunds
