Introduction to the Artists For Kids Clay Kit

Part 1: October 5, 3:30-5:00pm 

Part 2: October 19, 3:30-5:00pm

Location: Artists for Kids studios (2121 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver)

In this two-part hands-on clay workshop, ceramics artist Amelia Butcher will walk you through a lesson designed specifically for elementary grades. The artist will share practical tips and techniques for managing materials and teaching clay techniques to elementary students. Teachers are able to sign out the Artists for Kids Clay Kit to use in their schools for a two-week period. In this kit, teachers will have all the tools needed to complete the clay lesson taught in this two-part workshop series.

Workshops will cover the following topics: managing materials in the classroom, hand building techniques, sculpting with clay, press molds, planning and design process, drying and firing clay artworks. There will be a cup variation of the project shared for those who have attended the log workshop previously.
